IIM Calcutta was the first national institute to be established in India for Post Graduate studies and research in management. It is a fully autonomous institution with global reputation and offers Post Graduate and Doctoral level programs, Executive Training programs, and Research & Consulting activities. It is known worldwide for its finance courses and is considered as one of the best B-school for Finance.
The institute has achieved good placement figures year after year and has set the record of the highest salary offer ($350,000) ever among the Indian B-schools in the year 2009-10.

Admission Procedure
PGDM and PGDCM : The candidates are required to appear for Common Admission Test (CAT). Based on their performance in CAT and academic record, candidates are shortlisted for further process. Shortlisted candidates have to appear for a Written Ability Test (WAT), group discussion and personal interview. Candidates short-listed for PGDCM have to appear for a separate Personal Interview. The final selection of the candidate is based on the following:
1. Performance in CAT
2. Written Ability Test (WAT)
3. GD and PI
4. Relevant work experience
PGPEX : The candidates have to submit the duly filled application form. Based on their academic record and work experience, the candidates are shortlisted for interview. The final selection is based on the performance in interview, academic record and work experience.
PGPEX-VLM : Candidates are selected on the basis of the following:
1. Academic background
2. Relevant work experience
3. Employer's recommendations
4. Bio-data & essays
5. Performance in the Aptitude Test and Personal Interview which are conducted jointly by IIMC, IITK and IITM.
FPM : The candidates have to submit a Fellow Program Application Form for each area of specialization they are applying for. Along with the application form, they have to submit the following:
1. An application fee of Rs. 300 paid by a crossed demand draft
2. Two letters of recommendation for each area of specialization applied for
3. Certified Documents: This includes attested copies of Academic Records/Mark Sheets/ GMAT/GATE/GRE/UGC - JRF test scores.
4. Research Summaries: This includes summaries of candidate's published or unpublished research work.
After all the application forms have been submitted, candidates are shortlisted for the interview on the basis of their Admission Test scores. The interviews are conducted in two rounds. In the first round, candidates are interviewed by faculty members in the area of specialization to which they have applied. If the candidate qualify the first round, he/she then go through the second round of interview, in which the candidates are interviewed by the faculty members of the Fellow Program Committee. The final selection decision is made by this Committee.
MDP : The applicants have to first register for the program either online or through direct correspondence by means of an email or a letter/ fax. It is advisable to enclose the enrollment form and the participants' fees if the applicant is corresponding through a letter. After receiving the applicant's correspondence, the institute replies indicating the position with respect to the applicant's request for registration. If the seats are available in that position, the applicant is accepted provisionally but the seat is confirmed only after the payment of the fee. -
Fee Structure
PGDM and PGDCM : The total fee for each term is as follows:
Term I : Rs. 2,40,000
Term II : Rs. 2,08,000
Term III : Rs. 2,08,000
Term IV : Rs. 2,50,000
Term V : 2,25,000
Term VI : 2,25,000
Total : 13,56,000
PGPEX : Total fee for the entire program is Rs. 14,00,000, including tuition fees, cost of study material and accommodation (single). Students who want family accommodation will have to pay Rs. 48,000 extra. In addition, Rs.20,000/- has to be paid at the time of registration as refundable caution deposit .
PGPEX-VLM : Total Tuition Fees for the entire program is Rs 900,000.
Cost of accommodation and boarding at IIM/IIT : approx. Rs 7,000 per month
Cost of domestic visits: approx. Rs 60,000
Cost of international visit: approx. Rs 200,000
FPM : No tuition fee is charged for FPM program. -

Scholarships
There are a number of scholarships available to the students on the basis of merit and other criteria :
1. Industry Scholarships which are sponsored by companies like Aditya Birla Group, Ratan Tata Trust, T. Thomas Scholarship sponsored by HUL, OP Jindal Engineering & Management Scholarship etc.
2. Merit Scholarships awarded by NTPC to SC/ST/PWD students on the basis of the PGP-I result.
3. Merit Scholarship sponsored by the Government of India for SC/ST students on the basis of their performance during the admission process. -
Distance Learning
The LDP program offered by the institute is a distance learning program. This program is for executives and is offered through the HCIL and NIIT Imperia platforms. The program duration ranges from 6 months to 1 year and the classes are usually held over the weekends or in the evenings. The various programs that are offered under LDP are as follows:

Eligibility Criteria
PGDM and PGDCM : The applicant must have a Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent CGPA. In case of the applicants belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Differently Abled (DA) categories, the minimum marks obtained is 45%. The applicant must have taken the Common Admission Test (CAT).
PGPEX : The applicant must be an executive with a bachelor's degree and must have more than 5 years of post qualification managerial/professional experience. The applicant must have appeared for GMAT within last 36 months of application date.
PGPEX-VLM : The applicant must be an engineering graduate and must have consisitently obtained first class marks from high school onwards. The applicant must have 5 to 10 years of work experience in manufacturing or related sectors. Sponsored candidates / candidates on study leave must have minimum 5 years of work experience and there is no upper limit for them.
FPM : The applicant must have either a first class Master's degree in any discipline and a three-year Bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks in the aggregate; or a first class Bachelor's degree in Engineering. The applicant must have scored atleast 50% marks in the aggregate in either the secondary or the higher secondary board examination. -
