The University of Washington (also known as UW) was founded in the year 1861 and is one of the oldest public universities on the West Coast. It is a multi-campus university, with three campuses in Seattle, Tacoma and Bothell. The university is internationally recognised as a world-class academic medical center and is one of the preeminent research universities in the world. It has 16 colleges and schools that offers undergraduate, graduate and professional courses in a wide range of disciplines. The university enrolls about 48,022 students and there are more than 4,000 faculty members who are among the best teachers and researchers in their fields. UW has produced many notable alumini worldwide. Among the best konwn are NASA astronaut and physician- Michael R.
