What is education? The term Education has a broader meaning and cannot be confined in midst of few lines. Generally, Education encompasses teaching and learning specific skills, and also something less tangible but more profound: the imparting of knowledge, positive judgment and well-developed wisdom. Education has as one of its fundamental aspects which being the imparting of culture from generation to generation Education means, facilitating realisation of self-potential and talents of an individual.
It is an application of instruction, comprising of a body of theoretical and applied research relating to teaching and draws on many disciplines such as psychology, computer science, linguistics, neuroscience, sociology and anthropology. Its commonly believed that the Education of an individual human begins at birth and continues throughout life. Its commonly seen that the struggles of daily life provide far more instruction and Education than does formal schooling. Also in the initial years family members have a profound Educational effect on the child though family teaching may function very informally. Over the few decades different terms have been used to define Education. What is Education? in real terms remains a big question. This importance of Education is basically for two reasons. Firstly for training of a human mind this is not complete without Education. The second reason for the importance of Education is that only through the attainment of Education, man is facilitated to receive information from the external world so as to acquaint himself with past history and receive all necessary information regarding the present. Without Education, a man is believed to live in a closed room and with Education in his stride he finds himself in a room enlightened with the external force. This is why Islam attaches such great importance to knowledge and Education. When the Qur'an was revealed, the first word of its first verse was 'Iqra' that is, read. Education is thus the starting point of every human activity. Accordingly, there are different types of Education.
When a child asks what Education is? Famous scholars have given different definitions to it, however according to Islamic scholars the different forms of Education are accorded great respect in the hadith. According to a hadith in Islam the ink of the pen of a scholar is more precious than the blood of a martyr.
Education by far remains the most widely topic today as Educationists believe that the perspective of Education and its necessity is changing every day with high growth of industrialization affecting the normal life of human beings in today’s world. In this regard, special mention needs to be made of the rapid growth of international Education which is felt at institutional, national and international levels across the world. Thus, for better development of a child better Education is necessary.
